RESEARCH FOCUS
Stefan is working on the high-throughput characterization of additively manufactured soft magnetic alloys, and the specifically the Electron Beam Melting (EBM) of Permalloy. This includes the invention of a novel instrument to measure coercivity and saturation magnetization of unfinished samples, and as well as one to measure the coefficient of the thermal expansion. Through the printing of Permalloy, he hopes to demonstrate a viable alternative to laminations in electrical machinery through structures made of 2D and 1D features.
